PRIVACY POLICY

 

I. GENERAL POLICY

 

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Bebins Books, LLC, our affiliates, and DBAs (collectively, "Company," "we," and "us") collect, use, and protect the personal customer information ("Personal Data") obtained by the Company, including through web sites owned and/or operated by the Company, white label websites owned and/or operated by the Company (including author websites), our mobile sites, and any other service we provide physically or online (collectively, the “Services”).

 

This document should be read in conjunction with the Company's Terms of Use.  By using the Services you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy, including changes or updates that are occasionally implemented.  If for any reason you do not agree to the terms of this policy, please stop using the Services immediately.

 

In compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) we do not knowingly target or collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. The Company encourages parents to supervise their children's activities online.  If a user of the Services is under 13 years of age, such user must obtain parental consent before using the Services. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided information to the Company without their consent, he or she should contact us at the email address in the How to Contact Us section below.  We will delete such information within a reasonable time.

II. DATA WE COLLECT

 

(a) Personal Information voluntarily submitted

 

We collect Personal Data you choose to enter on various pages of our websites, or that you may choose to provide in some other way (such as by email, physical mail, or by telephone). For example, you may be asked to provide Personal Data when you register for access to certain portions of our websites, sign up for newsletters or mailings, or make a purchase.

 

The categories of Personal Data we may collect include your first and last name, e-mail address, physical address, and telephone number.  If you make purchases through our websites, our transaction partners may collect additional information according to their own privacy policies and terms of use.  The Company is not responsible for upholding the policies and/or terms of these partners. Personal Data is provided to the Company and our partners at your own risk.  By providing such information, you are giving your consent for the Company to collect, use, and disclose the information as described in this Policy.
 

(b) Automatic Information:

 

When you visit a website, you passively disclose certain information, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the time of your visit, the type of device you use, your device's ID, your operating system, and geolocation data. Our websites, like many other sites, record this basic information about the use of the Services.

A Web beacon, also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, is used on a website to obtain "clickstream data".  Such data tracks which pages, links, and other content have been viewed or clicked by a visitor while browsing a website, including the frequency of such engagement.

 

We also may obtain information through web server logs, JavaScript, Uniform Resource Locators (URL), and similar technologies designed to obtain information regarding your use of the Services.

 

The information we obtain in this manner may include IP address, mobile device advertising ID, browser characteristics, device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, information on actions taken on our Services, dates and times you access or use the Services, your phone number and details about your mobile carrier.

(d) Third Party Services

 

The Company utilizes the services of third parties like Facebook, Amazon, Square, Wix, and others. Such third parties may access and provide web beacons, cookies, or tracking links on our websites. Information gathered with using these methods can be used to track and analyze the way you use the Services, create reports of your activity, and offer additional services based on your website and internet use. Those third parties have their own policies about how data is used, and the Company is not responsible for reviewing or upholding these policies.

 

Additionally, the Company maintains accounts on certain third-party websites, such as social media sites and email marketing services, in order to interact with its users and the public.  You should understand the terms of use and privacy policies of those websites before using them. These sites may include but are not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and MailChimp.  The Company is not responsible for the Personal Data/information collection and use practices of those other sites, and hereby expressly disclaims all responsibility and liability which may arise from your use of third-party sites.

 

The Services may contain links to and/or embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, and apps)  from other websites. If you interact with such links or embedded content from these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies which will govern your use of the sites. Please check the privacy policies and terms of use for these websites before submitting any Personal Data to them and interacting with their content. The Company is not responsible for the Personal Data/information collection and use practices of those other sites, and hereby expressly disclaims all responsibility and liability which may arise from your use of third-party sites.

III. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

 

We will only use Personal Data collected through the Services when the law allows us to.  Most commonly, we use your Personal Data to:

We share Personal Data as necessary with third parties who provide services or functions on our behalf and who require the information to provide those specific services to us. These third parties may include social media or advertising platforms such as Facebook, Amazon, and Google Adwords for the purpose of custom audience generation and the development of targeting criteria for other audiences.  Such third parties may use the information for their own marketing purposes.

 

If you register with us through or connect your account with us to a third-party social media network like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, we may obtain certain information about you from the platform, such as your user ID and/or user name, information contained in your public profile, and your friends lists.  The specific information we obtain depends on your privacy settings on the applicable social media network. The Company is not responsible for those providers’ information practices.

 

Information may also be shared with our subsidiaries and affiliates, any of whom may use your Personal Data consistent with this Policy or for the subsidiary’s or affiliate’s own purposes, including marketing purposes.

 

We may anonymize Personal Data to provide third parties with aggregated data reports showing anonymized information and other non-personal information.

 

We may further disclose information about you (1) if we are required to do so by law or legal process, (2) to law enforcement authorities or other government officials, and (3) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity.  We also reserve the right to transfer Personal Data we have about you in the event of a proposed or completed sale or transfer of all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, dissolution or liquidation).

V. DATA SECURITY

 

Where possible, we rely heavily on respected services and systems provided by companies like Amazon, Facebook, Wix, Square, Paypal, and MailChimp to manage and protect your Personal Data.  No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and despite the care we exercise to provide secure transmission, we cannot guarantee that the Personal Data you submit to us or to the services mentioned above will be free from unauthorized third-party intrusion. You therefore understand and agree that all information you submit to Bebins Books, LLC, our partners, and the services we use, directly or indirectly, is done at your own risk. In the event that we believe there is a security breach involving your Personal Data, we will endeavor to notify you promptly in accordance with applicable law.

We will use and store your Personal Data only for as long as necessary, bearing in mind the uses of your Personal Data as described in this Policy and otherwise as communicated to you. We review the Personal Data we hold at regular intervals and delete or anonymise any Personal Data which is no longer necessary.

 

VI. UPDATING YOUR INFORMATION

 

You may correct, update, review, or delete information in our custody and control, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law. To update this information, please contact us as outlined in the How To Contact Us section of this document.  We may request certain personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the individual seeking access to his/her Personal Data records. You also can unsubscribe from our marketing mailing lists by following the “Unsubscribe” link in our emails.  You may also opt out of certain cookies by discontinuing use of the Services, or by configuring your browser settings to block such cookies.  Information collected by third-party partners or services used by the Company must be updated separately with those third-party partners or services.

 

VII. YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS NOTICE

 

By using the Services, you signify your agreement to this Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, please do not use the Services. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Policy at any time without any notice to you.  Please check back periodically to see any updates or changes to the Policy. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of changes to this Policy means you accept these changes.
